January 2008 - granddaughter Sienna, born in October, on her blue rug. There'll be lots more!
Sienna, one year later and now walking (well, running!). I like this shot for the sheer determination on her little face!
....and here she is, another beautiful granddaughter - Bridget Emily, at one day old in January 2009.
The Tiger Lily bloomed spectacularly this year, with many blooms like this lasting for several weeks. January 2008.
I enjoy photographing flowers, for the color and contrast. This is a rose - name unknown - in our garden in Tawa, Wellington, the rather strange looking background resulted from a photoshop attempt to remove the rust spots on the leaves in the background, long before I knew even the small amount I now know about using it. 2006
This was also taken in our garden in Tawa. 2006
I especially like this shot of the Air Force Memorial in Arlington, Virginia - it was a cool, crisp day and the light was good, somehow I fluked the lighting towards the tip of the column and on its face. There are three columns like this, creatively recreating the vapor trail of a jet. 2007
This was taken in Ha Long Bay in Vietnam, early in the morning. It was among my first attempts with my new Nikon D80. Although it is a very peaceful, serene, setting a few minutes earlier the gents in the boat were detonating explosives, I suspect they were impatient fishermen looking for quick results. 2007
Using the long lens on the Nikon it is possible to take photos of people without having to thrust the camera in their face, which I hate doing. This little girl playing with a threadbare doll was in Kathmandu, Nepal. 2007
Another flower from our own garden, the Tiger Lily. I enjoyed the orange color against the blue of the hydrangeas. 2005
